VPS price index

What a small VPS costs at a fixed sample of providers, normalized per vCPU and per GiB of RAM, with the source and read date of every price.

The index reads the same plan sizes at every provider in its sample: the shared-CPU plans with exactly 1, 4 and 8 GiB of RAM. That makes the rows comparable without anyone choosing which plans look good.

Every price is the one on the provider's own pricing page, excluding taxes, on the day in its row. Prices change; a row older than 90 days is marked stale.

The rows stay in dataset order. The index does not rank providers or name a best one, and ANAROQ is not in it: it sells no VPS.

The index

Filter by region, provider or a minimum size. A link from the Stack Sizer opens the index with its result's vCPUs and RAM as the minimum.

Medians

The median price per vCPU and per GiB of RAM of the sampled plans in each region, over every row (filters don't change it). A median of a few rows describes this sample, not the market.

Currencies

Each price is listed in the provider's currency, with its source and the day it was read. The other columns convert it with the European Central Bank's euro reference rates, the only rates the site converts with:

  • 1 EUR = 1.1188 USD, published for 13 Oct 2026Source ·
  • 1 EUR = 3.4404 ILS, published for 13 Oct 2026Source ·

Example

Take a 4 GiB plan: across the 4 providers in the sample it costs from $13.43 to $24 a month in USD, or $3.36 to $6 per GiB of RAM. A plan's vCPUs, disk and included transfer differ too, which is why the table shows them next to the price.

How the index is built

Sample: providers whose own pricing page is public (no login, no sales contact) and lists a fixed monthly price, without a commitment or a "from" price, for a VPS they sell self-serve from infrastructure they run. Per provider, the shared-CPU plans with exactly 1, 4 and 8 GiB of RAM; where a size has several plans, the one with the most vCPUs.

Normalization: the monthly price divided by the plan's vCPUs, and by its GiB of RAM. Sizes listed in GB are taken as GiB, as providers mean them. Each row's note says how its price was read.

Region: a provider region or market when the page prices by region, or "one price everywhere" when it lists a single price.

Left out of this snapshot, until a refresh finds the price readable: Hetzner (no price before a country is chosen), Vultr (the pricing page did not load), OVHcloud ("from" prices).

Refresh: by hand, about once a month, in a reviewed change to the dataset; a row is re-read from its source or marked stale. Nothing is scraped.

Data methodology and neutrality policy

Limits

  • A sample of a few providers and three plan sizes, not the whole market: medians describe the sample.
  • Shared vCPUs are not equal across providers: CPU model, steal time and burst limits differ, and a price per vCPU does not measure performance.
  • Taxes, IPv4 charges, backups, and traffic beyond the included transfer are not in the price; the note of each row says what is.
  • Converted prices use one day's ECB rate; your card or invoice will use another.
